Electrical devices, fixtures works pretty wall.Doors & windows, I have sorted by type - that's easier.you need quans and lengths of lumber, not very well tied to revit floor deck area calcs. Floor framing: revit calcs are a mess, not helpful.I haven't really done the lumber layer as a material schedule item, rely on wall families per above. Wall families I schedule in material schedules: I have separate materials specd for different wall surfaces, drywall types, exterior finish types.

Drywall, I have a field for '# sides of drywall' depending on wall.

Add structurally framed doors and big windows and headers manually.

window and door openings: I just kind of count windows manually and add the framing for them.

It all starts to fall apart with framing around openings, other beams, headers, etc is hard to schedule.

I make a calc field that multiplies the lengths of wood walls x 3 for length of top plates.

Tag them with the height of the wall (a shared parameter): (example) 10' on 1st floor, 8' on second, varies in basement.

I 'select-all' walls separately on each floor.

I am very familiar with schedules, but seems to be a hodge podge of how I can get real estimates to be revit-savvy. In my test case, it's for a several 4000 sf residential wood framed houses, high energy efficiency. Can anyone recommend a solution, or a white paper where this is thought thru. Therefore I am interested in how others do quantity takeoffs for construction from revit models. I am working on a ZER house so I want to see the differences in cost between multiple construction types, to understand the cost of this interesting option over standard construction.
